a ceremony.

Type of Ceremony
|
A wedding is a ceremony about a commitment
made between two persons. It is at the same time both serious and joyous.
There is a spiritual quality in such a commitment, regardless of whether
or not the ceremony is "religious."
The Ministers do not impose religious content
on the wedding. We attempt to develop a ceremony that is authentic for
the couple involved. |
| Weddings tend to fall into one of three types: |
Religious Neutral in which the spiritual quality of
the event is carried in the action and commitment of the individuals as
they speak their vows and convey thoughts through the music and selected
materials of the ceremony. Specific religious language or prayers are usually
not included.
Semi-Religious in which religious sentiment may be carried in
choice of music, readings, blessings, etc.
Traditional Religious in which formal marriage ceremonial forms
are used, including biblical readings, prayers, and religious language.
Samples of vows
and materials for all three types of ceremonies are attached. |
