We dedicated a "Moment"
     to a Polish Priest
     whose name
     I can't even pronounce...
     Jerzy Popieluszko.

Martyred
     by those who didn't like
     his political Priesting.

He was doing
     what needed doing
     and what he couldn't help.

Like most martyrs
     he was unpopular because
he offered power to the weak.

What makes people angry
     at those who stand with
     those nobody else stands with?

And what makes people think
you can kill an idea or ideal
     by killing a person?

Just as dandelion seeds
scatter all the more when hit
     martyrdom multiplies the man.

And causes some of us to decide
     to face our own lives
     with more courage.
