GENESIS 19:32

"Come, let us make our father
    drunk with wind..."

Another sordid story begins...
    as with Noah...
    awash in wine.

The women are blamed...
    again...
    for Lot's situational sexuality.

There must be a point
    to including such stories
    with no sign of shame.

Makes you wonder
    why Bible-wavers
    want this in the schools.

Blatant incest...
    with no lightning striking
    no floods rising.

What is...
    simply is.

   GENESIS 22:2

"'Offer him
    as a burnt offering."

That always stops me.

Was that really God speaking?
    To a sane father?
    About a real son?

And the father really listens?
    And takes it seriously?
    And prepares a fire?

I've read in papers of such things
    done to families
    by voice-hearing demented men.

Just in time
    an angel arrives
    and the son is saved.

And Abraham's faith
    is praised.

Praised?

I've heard this preached
    as a good example
of faith and trust in God.

I'd much rather
Abraham had said to the voice -
    "That's crazy!"
