GENESIS 7:21

"And all flesh died..."
    and every man...

Sad news bout floods...
    what they do
    to helpless victims.

God really did a number
    on quite a number
    of nameless souls.

If you take this story
    as historical.

Floods get blamed on God...
    and saved people
    give credit to God.

Some people get comfort
    from thinking
    there's a scheme
    behind horror.

For others it's
    no comfort at all
    when all men die.

When the rains come
    we're all helpless kids
    saying"
         "Rain, rain, go away..."

     GENESIS 9:19

"I set my bow in the cloud..."

This explains the rainbow...
    and offers a promise
    we hope will be kept.

No more floods...
    well, at least
    no more wiping out humanity.

That's  comforting.

It really doesn't promise
    that others than God
    won't destroy everybody.

We're only promised
    that God has repented
    of trying to abort us.

On the other hand
    the angst remains.

Whom can we trust?

It's unsettling
    have doubts about
    both man and God.
