LUKE’S CHRISTMAS STORY

”In those days . . .
Joseph went to Bethlehem
with Mary...
who was with child.
And while they were there
the time came for her to be delivered.
And she gave birth to her
first-born son
and wrapped him is swaddling
cloths, and laid him in a
manger . . .
And in that region there
were shepherds...
and an angle of the Lord
appeared to them...
and said to them”
        ‘Do not be afraid
        for I bring you
        good news...’
And suddenly there was with
the angle
a multitude of the heavenly
host praising God...
The shepherds said to
one another:
        ‘Let us go over
        to Bethlehem to see
        this thing that has
        happened...’”
                                   Luke 2:1 - 20

”There were shepherds...”

And a cast of others too
      in Luke’s poetic drama
      of the first Christmas.

Like Mary and Joseph...
      Angels...
      And the Heavenly Hosts.

But he forgot
      grandparents!

How can you have
      a wondrous birth...
      or any birth
      without grandparents?

Who do you think
      would be first to spread
      news of great joy?

After all...
      it is the way
      of grandparents.
