MORGAN'S MOMENT...
I laughed out loud
        a laugh drowned out
        by my ear protectors
and the sound of my lawnmower.
Here I am I thought to myself
        going around and around
two miles worth on his section
        meditating all the way.
Hey! I’m in fashion
        one with Buddhist meditation walkers
        one with Christian labyrinth walkers
        one with Monastic prayer walkers.
I walk with hands in front of me
        not properly folded
my mind open to inspired thoughts
        my attention in focused-neutral.
This meditation section takes an hour
        about a gas filling worth
with room for many a thought
        and space for spiritual insight.
You will never know how many “Moments”
        found birth in my walking
        when the roaring motor
        failed to block flowing thoughts.
I’m fortunate in my spiritual life
        to have built-in venues
        where I can be meditating
        while appearing to be working.

ART’S THREE SCORE AND 10 PARTY
Thursday May 10
POTLUCK
(Second and Last Notice!)
Actually, this could be the last Thursday “Moment” of the season. The World Headquarters of Moment Ministries makes its annual move to Puget Sound country on May 22. (There is a possibility of a gathering on June 7, between graduation parties).
The summer season allows “rolling moments,” when different individuals roll into the summer headquarters for a night or two. We’ll say more about that in our next mailing.
BLUE NEWS
Our Washington “Associated Moment Minister,” Don Whitney and wife Beth have co-produced a child named Colin. He weighed in at 4 pounds, 12 ounces, but is said to be gaining rapidly. Those who know these folks are more than excited at the news.
FOR INFORMATION
We keep getting new people on our list that don’t have a clue about Moment Ministries. It’s hard to bring people up to speed on what has gone on for 23 years. We do have a web page (thanks to Bill Gilbert). There is more there than anyone wants to know, plus some pictures. So, if someone you know wants more information, send them to our web page (that includes a view from out deck at the summer headquarters.
Ram Dass says:
“Getting old isn’t easy for a lot of us. Neither is living, neither is dying. We struggle against the inevitable and we all suffer because of it. We have been trying to find another way to look at the whole process of being born, growing old, changing and dying, some kind of perspective that might allow us to deal with what we perceive as big obstacles without having to be dragged through the drama of misery. Understanding that we have something—that’s unchangeable, beautiful, completely aware, and that continues no matter what, really helps.”

JEAN’S READING – 2000 thru April 2001

The truth is that we get more comment from Jean’s book lists than all of my writing put together. I usually try to get it out in January, but not this year. So this list includes 2001 up to May. It will turn out to be an incomplete list, due to space limitations. You would think that all she does is read. Not so. As I write she’s out back with her chain saw working on next winter’s wood! We don’t read the same books. I may have read two or three on her list. None of the mysteries. My beat is the eternal mysteries. She likes her mysteries best because she gets to know the ending.
